Over 1,000 lofts converted since 1989
Reinventing your loft is one of the best home improvement projects you can take on. Not only will a new and improved loft offer more usable space, it can also significantly increase the value of your home. If you’re interested, call Touchstone Lofts. Our loft conversions in Redhill are guaranteed to give you the extra space you need just like how you imagined it.
We have been in the business for over 30 years. We understand how homes in Surrey are built and designed. This has helped us come up with tailored loft design ideas that cater to both the needs and preferences of each client.
Tailored Service and Individual Design
We understand that homes, despite having similarities with neighbouring ones, are as unique as the families who live there. This fuels the uniqueness of our designs. We don’t have a standard design that’s perfect for all homes. We believe in personalising each project to the needs and preferences of our clients. This also means we value your input.
Once the design is settled, there’s no need to worry about plumbing, lighting, wiring, heating, or other elements – we’ll take care of all of them. We always ensure that the new loft is not only stunning, but also safe for you and your family, and up to standards. During the project, a manager will always be in communication with you so you can ask all the questions you may want to.
Award-winning loft conversions
We have been recognised for outstanding quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service by the Federation of Master Builders in their Master Builder of the Year Awards, Southern Region.
We are also finalists in the ‘Best Loft Conversion’ category in the 2020 Homebuilding & Renovating Awards.

Types of loft conversions for Redhill homes
These are the various types of loft conversion we can design and build:
The Benefits of Having a Gorgeous Loft
The best way to save space is to make the most of it. Loft conversions do this by carving a more functional space from an otherwise less useful loft. This gives you the option to turn it into any room you want.
Growing Your Roots
A growing family or a growing home business often means you’ll eventually have to move to a bigger house. This may not always be your best option. Between the costs and headaches of moving, a loft conversion is your better alternative.
Adding Value to your Home
Space is becoming more and more costly. Making smart use of the space that you have means you’re leveraging space to add more value to your home. Future buyers will fall in love with the ingenuity of the loft design once your property is listed on the market.
Getting Planning Permission
Some homeowners hesitate at the thought of planning permissions. Don’t worry, we’ll be there to help. Here’s what we’ll do.
- We’ll determine whether you have permitted development rights, or whether you need planning consent for the loft conversion project.
- We’ll be there with you when applying for planning consent.
- We’ll prepare the designs to be submitted to the local authority, should they require it.
- If you need it, we can help with Party Wall Agreements as well.
- We’ve helped clients successfully secure planning permissions in 98% of our projects.

Your loft conversion questions answered
Have a question about loft conversions? We’re happy to help. Read our answers to the questions that our customers frequently ask us.
How long does a loft conversion take?
Depending on the size and type, most loft conversions take around 12 weeks.
Will I need to move out during the project?
No – it’s safe to carry on living inside the property. We work from the scaffolding before the stairs go in. Any disruption you experience will mainly come from noise.
Where will you place our new staircase?
We will be able to fit your staircase around your existing layout and will find an option to suit you. If possible, we will try to fit your new staircase over the existing staircase so that it fits seamlessly within your property.
Do I need planning permission for a loft conversion?
This depends on your location and type of property – all flats require planning, but if you live in a house that isn’t in a designated area, then permitted development is usually used and no planning is required. There are many other factors to take into account and one of our surveyors can advise further.
How much does a loft conversion cost?
Most cost between £30,000 and £50,000. This depends on the size and type – bigger and more complicated jobs take longer and therefore will cost more. See pricing information for further details.
What is a party wall agreement and do I need one for a loft conversion?
A party wall agreement (PWA) is required if you have a semi-detached or a terraced property and you are working within or near your neighbour’s boundary. We can advise when the surveyor visits.
Does a loft conversion add value to a home?
Yes – it will add from 20% to 30% upwards depending on the size, design and type.
How much head height do you need for a loft conversion?
If you have a clear head height of 2m then a loft conversion may be possible. Our surveyor will need to assess this to confirm.
