Types of loft conversions for London homes
These are the various types of loft conversion we can design and build:
Why would a loft conversion work for your London home?
A high-quality loft conversion will often be more cost effective than a ground floor extension due to the fact that you will not need to include floor footings, constructed walls or roofs. Converting your loft will be more cost-effective than re-locating. As well as adding an additional 30% value to your home, you will also be avoiding the added cost of estate agent and legal fees.
A good project manager will ensure that the team is able to undertake the building work whilst allowing you to continue living within your property with minimal disruption. With a team of specialists in a range of sectors available when needed, our projects continue to run smoothly with minimal stress caused to the homeowner and only ever completed to the highest quality.

Why are loft conversions so popular in London?
Busy London Town
With London being a highly congested area, expanding the footprint of your home is often an unachievable dream. Converting your existing loft into a useable living space will allow you to gain the extra space in your home whilst still keeping inside your boundaries.
Converting your loft would provide a private space in your home away from the hustle and bustle of family life downstairs. As well as using this space as an area to unwind yourself, you could also take advantage of the added space and accommodate for a friend or student studying in the city to stay. By creating a bedroom, small living space and a bathroom on a separate floor to the rest of the family home, you can produce a separate space for someone to live independently.
Stay in your cherished location
To be able to live in Europe’s 3rd most popular location is something in itself, so moving home just for some added space may be out of the question. Often overlooked, your empty loft is already part of your home. With clever design you will be able to achieve that desirable extra space whilst remaining in the area you love.
How you can make your London loft conversion a usable space?
Your loft is bound to be sitting there, storing suitcases, old photo albums, and family heirlooms. Why not change that wasted storage space into useable living space? With a wide variety of options available, our team will work closely with you to create a plan that is unique to you and is tailored to all your wants and needs. From bedrooms and bathrooms, through to staircases and storage solutions, we can create that additional space you are seeking while still being able to store your possessions.
Offering extras to finish off your loft conversion can make all the difference. Underfloor heating in the bathroom will add a perk to those cold, early morning showers, as well as the lighting in the bathroom mirror ensuring you look and feel as good as your home!
French doors can also be fitted to create a Juliet balcony which will let in maximum levels of natural light and allow you the best view of your London surroundings. And, with a range windows that can be made specifically for you and your home in the size, shape and colour that you require, there shouldn’t be much need for artificial lighting! However, our electricians will be on hand to fit your chosen lighting; from dimmable downlighters with the ability to change from cool to warm tones, through to spotlights throughout the entire top floor, you can rest assured knowing that we have what you need to fulfil your dream design.
Your loft conversion questions answered
Have a question about loft conversions? We’re happy to help. Read our answers to the questions that our customers frequently ask us.
How long does a loft conversion take?
Depending on the size and type, most loft conversions take around 12 weeks.
Will I need to move out during the project?
No – it’s safe to carry on living inside the property. We work from the scaffolding before the stairs go in. Any disruption you experience will mainly come from noise.
Where will you place our new staircase?
We will be able to fit your staircase around your existing layout and will find an option to suit you. If possible, we will try to fit your new staircase over the existing staircase so that it fits seamlessly within your property.
Do I need planning permission for a loft conversion?
This depends on your location and type of property – all flats require planning, but if you live in a house that isn’t in a designated area, then permitted development is usually used and no planning is required. There are many other factors to take into account and one of our surveyors can advise further.
How much does a loft conversion cost?
Most cost between £30,000 and £50,000. This depends on the size and type – bigger and more complicated jobs take longer and therefore will cost more. See pricing information for further details.
What is a party wall agreement and do I need one for a loft conversion?
A party wall agreement (PWA) is required if you have a semi-detached or a terraced property and you are working within or near your neighbour’s boundary. We can advise when the surveyor visits.
Does a loft conversion add value to a home?
Yes – it will add from 20% to 30% upwards depending on the size, design and type.
How much head height do you need for a loft conversion?
If you have a clear head height of 2m then a loft conversion may be possible. Our surveyor will need to assess this to confirm.
