The opportunity to create more space

The clients, Samantha Spiro, a highly acclaimed and famous actress (best known for playing Barbara Windsor in stage play Cleo) and her lesser known husband, Mark Leadbetter, contracted Touchtone Lofts for a loft conversion in Chevening road, Queens park, North London.  The brief was for a rear flat roof dormer with en-suite shower.

How we can achieve a conversion like this for your home

The property was in a conservation area and therefore it had no permitted development rights.  Planning permission was required for the loft conversion.

Touchstone Lofts applied for a rear flat roof dormer after our architect had prepared drawings (all agreed with the client.

Planning permission was agreed by the local planners at Brent council.

Scaffolding was erected once our structural engineers had prepared detailed plans for the construction team.

The client wanted the stairs to be extended and matched.  Touchstone Lofts designed a bespoke staircase that matched the existing stairs perfectly and the stairs leading to the second floor looked like they had always been there. The new stairs mirrored the existing stairs.

The client, who was particularly concerned at the start of the project, was absolutely delighted with the final stairs we fitted.  We were more than happy to have made Samantha Spiro so happy.

The rear dormer had four large wooden sash type windows that extended from floor to ceiling.   made the room very bright and airy.  The en-suite was located within the front elevation of the loft.

We fitted three large Velux rooflights to the front slope that flooded further natural light into the loft conversion.
